About Susan Hunt Apteker
Susan Hunt Apteker is a native of the North Quabbin Region. Born and raised in the Athol-Orange area of Massachusetts, she grew up working at the Hunt Farm in Orange and attended Orange Public Schools.
Susan graduated from Mahar Regional High School in 1978 and Fitchburg State University in 1982. She received a Masters Degree in Education (1987) and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in Education Administration (2011), both from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
For the majority of her teaching career, Susan taught in the Orange Elementary Schools. She also taught in Venezuela, Switzerland, Hungary, and Poland.
Susan has a strong community commitment and understands the pulse of this area well. She serves on the Orange Elementary School Building Committee, Orange Recreation Association Board of Directors, Mahar Regional School Council and New Salem Planning Board. She is Co-President of Delta Kappa Gamma Alpha Mu Women Educators and a volunteer with the Franklin County Fair and Massachusetts 4-H.
Susan enjoys traveling, hiking in the Quabbin, biking, golfing, gardening and showing dairy cattle. She resides in New Salem, Massachusetts with her husband Bob and is the mother of a son and two daughters.
